New to St Paul's Bretch Hill?
When I come for the first time, what can I expect to see?
Someone on the door to welcome you and show you where to go.
No pews or rows of seats (as we meet in the Sunshine Centre, not a traditional church building); we sit round cafe-style tables.
Friendly members of our church family who are always willing to chat.
A relaxed, friendly and informal atmosphere.
What time should I get there?
The service starts every Sunday morning at 10.30am, but you can arrive any time you like from 10am onwards.
What's the service like?
We sing some Christian songs, there are some prayers, we read the bible and there is a talk about the bible reading.
After the talk, we have a break for food and drinks (usually pastries, cakes and fruit) and have a chance to chat to each other during the break. Then we chat a bit more about the topic of the talk, and sing again.
By the way, the food is always free.
During the service, you can join in as much as you like, or just sit quietly - no pressure either way.
When we sing, some people prefer to stay seated, some prefer to stand. Either is fine.
The service lasts 90 minutes (including the break in the middle).
What about my children?
We don't have separate groups for children, we all stay together as one big family. Children of all ages (and their noise!) are always welcome.
We have some activity bags for young children, and resources for drawing, colouring and puzzles related to the bible reading for older children who want them.
There is plenty of space and we don't mind young children wandering around.
Do I have to dress up?
No! We are very informal, so wear anything you like - just come as you are!
